Types of leadership in the workplace, explained by our learning and development consultants in Sydney
As you go through your working career, you will realise that the managers and leaders that you deal with or had dealt with do not all follow the same style of leadership. So our learning and development consultants in Sydney will tell you about the different types of leadership in the workplace.
Did you know that the majority of people’s managerial methods and skills are based off of their amount of competent emotional intelligence, which is why our leadership coaches want you to be aware of the different types of leading methods:
• The coercive leadership – this is an autocratic leadership style, that is when the manager is telling you what to do and you do it
• The coaching leadership – the employee is given a workload and targets to meet. This type of leadership is highly reliant on employee self-dependant initiative to learn and grow
• The affiliation leadership – is when the worker and manager in charge are working side by side to achieve the goal together and is based off of a support system
• The authoritative leadership – this is used when a team needs motivation and is typically used by leaders who simply want to execute a plan
• The pace setting leadership – a leader is setting standards for his or hers workers to follow and meet, in the attempts of being a role model
• The democratic leadership – there is a lot of input from the colleagues, managers and owners in the efforts to get the end project finished. People implement this type of leadership when fresh and unprecedented ideas are needed.
